Tannerforge now offers dog boarding!

Exciting news!  We are now able to offer dog boarding.  We specialize in large dogs and dogs with special needs.  Special diets, extra small dogs who need in home care, dogs with separation issues etc…  Our obedience background has given us special tools to address issues and hopefully make your dog’s stay with us as comfortable as possible.  See the link to the right for more information.

Tannerforge has moved

I apologise for being out of touch for so long, but things have been very busy here.  We have moved to Courtland, 20 minutes south of Woodstock.  We have both settled in to new jobs and our new home (well, sort of settled – it’s still a work in progress).  We now operate a boarding kennel and I will be offering obedience classes in the spring.  Check out our link to the right.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I wish everyone a prosperous new year!

I just had to publish this again! Happy Holidays!

Season’s Greetings

Last SH pass!

Guess who is here for 2 weeks???

Wicked, that’s who!  One of William’s puppies from his litter he sired in March.  She is black and looks a lot like her dad.  And she has a lot of his mannerisms also!  She brings stuff to me just like he does and when she found out she gets treats, she has brought me a lot of stuff – paper towels, wrappers, toys, a lot of it I know she didn’t find on the floor, but we’ll forgive her.  She is trying hard to please.  She is an awesome pup.  Very people oriented, quick to learn, pretty focussed for 4 months and very sweet.  She went swimming for what I believe was her first time yesterday.  Hot day, she had spent a lot of time in the wagon while we ran water marks with Willie and Chili and Cheryl’s Goldens.  So, we took her to another spot at Hullett yesterday to introduce her to the water.  She went in after a bumper a couple of times and got out deep enough to swim.  So, as a good trainer, I stopped at that.  Then we decided to let the 4 dogs chase after some fun bumpers in the water.  Thought that Wicked would just paddle about at the shore, but no.  She was right there swimming out for the long bumpers for the big dogs.  Sometimes she got one, sometimes not, but she just had a riot!  She got her head dunked at one point, I fretted for about a milisecond.  She came up unfazed and kept on playing.  Needless to say, she slept well last night.

Too bad she isn't fitting in....

What is a dog?

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.

You are his life, his love, his leader.  He will be yours, faithful and true to the last beat of his heart.

You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

Interesting article

This is a very interesting article on stem cell therapy for elbow dysplasia.  Not a cure, but a way to ease pain. http://www.thestar.com/living/article/666233 And there is an interesting little side bar about Chris Zink.

William gets his second Senior Hunter Pass!

Yesterday, at the Mountain Valley Retriever Training Club hunt test, Jim and William did a superb job on a very nice test set up by Tim Marshall and Chris Bayles.  Two more passes to go!
